Pros

Great experience and opportunity to get involved in public broadcasting. Early on goals were mission driven to provide a service to the public that was thoughtful and insightful. There are a lot of passionate professionals both in front of and behind the microphone who's combined efforts touched the hearts and minds of listeners each and every day.

Cons

Lack of diversity in programming at the national level. Ongoing trend has been to cut support for programming that was geared to communities of color. National programming is loosing it's sense of community engagement and appears to be out of touch with smaller station markets.

Pros

I was fully remote, learned so much from a great group of peers, the union is strong and active, pay was fair

Cons

The federal funding saga put a damper on morale, but that was pretty outside of the scope of what my team/manager could control.

Pros

tiny desks happen at work

Cons

soulless and corporate, management is all-powerful, benefits are slowly disappearing, few career prospects unless you fit a certain "profile"
