You are expected to read minds and be ok with subjective measurement sticks. Questions are dangerous to ask. Especially those questions related to your role or how you will be measured.
You are expected to conform to their precise cultural ways. Deviancy away from that norm even in very minor ways is met with hostility.
Work/Life balance is the buzzword they use to sell you on taking the job. In reality, it is not flexible and more about being visible during the right times of the day.
Honesty and frank conversation are not well received.
Talking to people in other divisions or in other companies in the building is actively discouraged.
Personal development requests or ideas are met with incredulity and disdain.
The expectation is that you will not do anything other than work for this company. That means no side-gigs, no part-time anything, not even classes in the evening.
Benefits are not great. I suppose the healthcare plan is ok but it is hard to use it if you are afraid to take the day off. 401k match is worst I have seen at a decently sized company.
