Pros

(1). Initial salary should be negotiated as high as possible. (2). Black and white bonus structure (up to 30% for certain levels) = Net Income + Total Home Sales, straightforward. (3). ESOP program. (4). That is it, it's all about the dollars.

Cons

(1). Employee culture has a lot to be desired. (2). NVR is NOT an IT-based firm, < 3% of staff positions of ~6600 are IT-related (3). 401K program is almost non-existent, only $1000 match. (4). No work-life balance, no flexibility to work from home (rare), need to be at your desk 5 days per week, and NVRT management walks the floors in the PM. Very sad. (5). Senior leadership claims to be conservative, and in the bigger picture of business they are, but how they project staffing against home building projections is highly questionable. There is longevity of "certain" employees, but that is NOT representative of the norm. (6). Old school management style(from the 80's), senior leadership tells NVR Technology (NVRT) management what their budget they will receive. NVRT leadership really does not have any input, no matter what they state or claim to NVRT employees. This affects both merit increases and staffing levels. (7). NVRT middle management professional integrity, and in some cases personal integrity, is questionable.

Pros

The Charleston Division is an incredible group of professionals. NVR/Ryan Homes might be a large home builder, but here, you will feel like you are part of a family. The training is the best I've ever experienced. You will be supported in every way, as long as you are communicative and transparent with management. In turn, you will be expected to show up, conduct yourself in a professional manner at all times, and work hard. Your training will prepare you for success, and you will need to use what you learned. It works! You get one weekend off each month, which I never had with other builders. Sadly, I had to leave due to a move, and a position was not open in my new area so I could transfer.

Pros

Good commission structure with early payouts, qualify hoe, solid benefits, and a professional sales environment. Training and system were well organized.

Cons

Lead volume was inconsistent and often too light to generate a sustainable income. Pricing and market positioning made it difficult to compete in my area, resulting in fewer opportunities than expected. Success depended heavily on market conditions and traffic.
