Pros

National Instruments is a fairly laid back atmosphere. They lost their Great Places to Work standing a few years ago and they've been working hard to get it back. They're trying to maintain/recreate somewhat of a startup atmosphere in a large company. Not an easy thing to do. The benefits are pretty good, and everybody is pretty easy to work with.

Cons

National Instruments mostly relies on heroes to get the work done. There is not a lot of process, and even less design and documentation. They hire the best and the brightest (new graduates 99% of the time) because they rely on bright individuals rather than teams and process to keep moving forward.

Pros

Great place to work, wonderful environment and people.

Cons

Teams were let go after they were purchased. I'm not sure how it is now.

Pros

Smart and supportive co-workers who are willing to help and share knowledge. Exposure to full product development cycle. Generally positive company culture.

Cons

Career advancement can be slow, with limited opportunities for promotion or lateral movement in some orgs. Compensation growth tends to fall behind. Several org changes following Emerson acquisition.
