Pros

Prior to the October 11 closure of the Emerson acquisition, NI has enjoyed a positive company culture where talented people worked hard with often shoestring budgets, but strove to support each other and the success of the company.

Cons

Emerson's acquisition is quickly bringing a less-human approach to working with NI employees, many of whom are being abruptly laid off in waves with no explanation to them, their managers or the Emerson counterparts with whom they were expecting to work on integration. Those who remain are struggling with too little information on what Emerson plans for NI despite Emerson having more than six months to plan and prepare to communicate a vision for integration and potential success of the merged companies.

Career advancement can be slow, with limited opportunities for promotion or lateral movement in some orgs. Compensation growth tends to fall behind. Several org changes following Emerson acquisition.
