Cons
My supervisor screamed and cursed at me on more than one occasion. I reported a hostile work environment to HR, but the aggression continued and was even escalated by her supervisor. This was the most UNPROFESSIONAL and substandard management I’ve encountered. My supervisor her supervisor disparaged existing and former employees to me. In fact, they discussed their disappointment in the performance of an employee in my office (senior to my position) and blamed it on her need for more childcare, which was incredibly inappropriate, if not illegal. Since they were located in different states, and it was just the two of us in this small branch office, they asked me to be a “watchdog” on this employee. Then I learned the person I was asked to “watch” had been asked to “watchdog” me. As absurd as this sounds, it was common practice by them, as my predecessor told me she had been asked to be a “watchdog” on an employee senior to her as well. Another major problem in this department is management has their favorite employees and there are dramatically different rules for the liked and disliked. Also, there were significant misrepresentations made in the interview process: (1) they said they only hire “nice” people; and, (2) that the territory covered by the Los Angeles office is “robust” for fundraising. First, they may hire “nice” people, but they are NOT “nice.” Second, it's simply not true. There was nothing robust about it. Stay away from the DEVELOPMENT DEPARTMENT.
