Growing fast, focused on culture and grappling with the speed of its successes - Assistant Vice President National Life Group Employee Review

Pros

- Culture - there's a push for people to engage, focus on relationships, understand the business, not just transnational efficiency - Growth - recent growth is amazing. It's a great run - how the company will handle a shift from this growth trajectory will be the true view into its philosophy and demeanor - Community Engagement - volunteer hours and the philanthropic commitments are terrific - There is a focus on people - people's personal lives are taken into account

Cons

- Doesn't buy love - loses talent due to salary negotiations or unwillingness to negotiate at times - but you know where the org stands - Not everyone is bought into the culture and those who aren't aren't always held accountable to follow the cultural engagement. This creates safe and unsafe spaces for employees - all spaces should be safe if the organization is truly bought into vulnerability and anti-shaming - Inconsistency of managers - There can be a wide discrepancy in styles and approach so who you report to can be as important as the quality of work you do. If we're going to pay for performance, the org needs to do a better job ensuring fairness in managerial talent, mentoring, and approach.

Pros

Good pay, nice people to work with but as a consultant I feel a bit on the "outside".

Cons

Every single person that is an Executive Vice President is a man with the only woman being the CEO's Executive Assistant. Clearly you can see there is a distinct "known" here at this company.

We recognize that diversity has historically been an issue in our industry. However, if you look at our corporate board, we're actively working to diversify and will continue to make sure we consider all aspects. We will always focus on adding the most qualified talent to all of our roles across the entire organization. If you would like to connect further regarding this, I would welcome the opportunity to talk. - Michael Veilleux, Chief People Officer
