Pros

Little micromanagement, good work-life balance with standard hours, the Chicago campus is in a good central location in the Loop, friendly colleagues that are genuinely good people and an overall strong sense of community. Your colleagues here are easily approachable and everyone will pitch in to help you get your work done. "That's not in my job description" is a phrase you'll rarely hear from anyone.

Cons

The new management team values enrollment numbers and money over education. Immediate supervisors have little knowledge of workers' abilities and often give inconsistent and confusing performance feedback. There is little-to-no room for advancement unless you change departments or campus. Since the new president took over, there have been increased lay-offs and frequent staff departures. The university is slowly adopting a "for profit" mentality, creating a more corporate atmosphere, which is a departure from the institution's former academic feel. Supervisors seem to have little interest in their employee's career growth and aspirations.
