Pros

The current team I work with are the only reason I come in and I actually like what I do.

Cons

Upper management has no idea what it is like to be an advisor and provides zero support to their staff. University morale is low and they have no idea how to motivate their employees or to actually treat them fairly. They are beginning to micromanage and instead of asking how to improve the system in which we work to benefit our students, they decide on their own and expect us to comply when we know what our students need because we face them everyday. For a job that requires a bachelor's degree, you are definitely paid far below what is average. University policy should not be what is preventing advisors from assisting their students.

Pros

The University has taken tangible and meaningful steps toward fulfilling its mission in an increasingly thoughtful and responsible way. There is a genuine commitment among leaders to collaborate more effectively and work together in support of shared goals. The 403(b) match is an outstanding benefit, and the PTO/sick leave offerings are equally strong and greatly appreciated.

Cons

One ongoing challenge is the imbalance between the volume of work and the number of people available to support it. Teams are highly committed, but workloads can at times exceed current staffing capacity.
