Pros

Working from home; some decent coworkers; talk to some good students who want to advance their career or change their life trajectory.

Cons

Unnecessary micromanagement - Management tracks how long you're available on the call center platform to receive live calls. They also monitor how many calls you make, how long you're on the phone, and how much talk time you have. There are daily virtual team meetings that are so redundant. They consist of announcing your numbers in front of the rest of the team. If you're not on pace to hit monthly numbers, it will be announced to your team. The top performers are lauded with fake praise. There are also weekly one on one meetings with your manager that are awkward. They listen to a call you made and critique it. You will be judged on how well you follow the script and how well you keep a prospective student on the phone to apply. They want you to be aggressive with students and push them to apply on every call. The job is simply a call center sales job disguised as student advising. Yes, you meet some good students that you connect with and help, but meeting your enrollment numbers is the name of the game. If you don't hit a monthly goal, management finds a reason to write you up. It's not totally management's fault, as they have management above them breathing down their neck. One time our team was short goal on the last day of the month, and my manager called me virtually out of the blue and was real aggressive with me, desperately wanting me to find any student that could commit that day.

Pros

The University has taken tangible and meaningful steps toward fulfilling its mission in an increasingly thoughtful and responsible way. There is a genuine commitment among leaders to collaborate more effectively and work together in support of shared goals. The 403(b) match is an outstanding benefit, and the PTO/sick leave offerings are equally strong and greatly appreciated.

Cons

One ongoing challenge is the imbalance between the volume of work and the number of people available to support it. Teams are highly committed, but workloads can at times exceed current staffing capacity.
