Pros

Great leadership at the branch I work for. Very knowledgable and care about employees and the families we serve. However not sure if I can extend the same positive thoughts towards the entire corporation. At the very least, the agency is led by a social worker which is rare unfortunately. Very clear purpose of why we do what we do. You genuinely feel like you are making a difference in the lives of our clients. CEU hours are offered, and a lot of supervision for people who need their LISW. Gives you a lot of autonomy in how you complete your work such as hours and work flow. Bonuses if you meet and exceed productivity. My branch had a lot of diverse staff members. As a minority worker I never felt tokenized. They really do make diversity a priority and it shows.

Cons

Productivity is 55% for office based, 50% for community and office based hybrid. Not an unreasonable quota but if you don’t meet it there will be a lot of pressure and micromanaging. They honestly pretty much throw you in there with little training on how to complete paperwork and such. You really have to learn on the job. Since it is a foster care agency, there is a very particular way to do paperwork. There is a lot of paperwork to do. It was hard to manage to meet quota and also keep on top of my paperwork. Also, have to travel and work later typically meet productivity. You do get to build your own schedule, so it is still your choice. However I found it hard to meet my quota without driving in the mornings and working till 6 or 7 most nights. Compensation is fairly good for a non profit, but with that said, it is probably not very high compared to the stress and skill needed in working with a high needs population we work with.
