Pros
The benefits and rates charged to employees are the only pro of working at Nationwide. While these are far from outstanding and need a lot of work they are still a pro. I really wish Nationwide was "on the side" of their employees.
Cons
Biggest opportunity is in leadership - promotions are based on who you know, who gives out gifts to others - favoritism all over the place. People are not promoted for what they know or have done in their careers. Just take a look of those leaders on LinkedIn who are former nationwide leaders - they left for a reason versus being asked to leave....many great leaders left because they saw the writing on the wall. Politics and favoritism run throughout the organization even within HR, very disappointing to someone who is leading and truly cares about people. If you care about people and trying to make a difference this is not the place for you. Comp is not good compared to other companies just look around. If you want to work on cool, innovative work they you should skip Nationwide - very, very corporate and old school - not in a cool, hip way either. And really NW - get into the 90's at least - the same employee dress code has been in place in from the 1980's. People want to come as they are - they are adults, treat them this way and catch up with the "good" and "great" cultures of other companies.
