Pros
Excellent company to work for - open door means exactly that - no issues with leadership both at the site level or corporate level - growth potential is typical for this type of environment (government contracting) and can be very rewarding if you are motivated and communicate well with all levels. The pay is outstanding when compared to similar positions across the country, which makes it very hard to consider leaving. Being a contractor on a government site comes with up front knowledge of new contract negotiations will happen, and sometimes it doesn't work in favor of the employees but more often than not, there is nothing to worry about. Besides that, there are many other locations to consider in the Navarro portfolio if you're willing to relocate!
Cons
Work life balance can be challenging when working in a location far from "home base" but the beauty of the open door policy is a generous PTO policy which has never been questioned for any requests. If you don't "reside" in the local area, they offer site housing for a nominal fee. Modified work schedules allow for a person to be "home" with their families if they aren't home every night, which has been the saving grace for my continued love of my position! It's an adjustment, one that can be challenging for some - but if you can adapt to the location, the work is well worth it!
