Pros
A middling company with a pile of VC dollars to burn and a grandiose image of themselves. Plenty of free, empty calorie foods/drinks to keep the kids jacked up and in line.
Cons
Gotta love the flurry of good reviews posted to offset the bad ones that have been popping up for the past couple of months. An important thing to consider when you read some of these recent reviews touting NI's "innovation" and "bleeding edge technology" is that they've been around since 2006 and yet still operate as a startup. You are of course, entitled to believe that NI is so ahead of the game that their brilliance can't be appreciated without a crystal ball if you want to or you can look at couple of key facts from the last few years: when Starcom - who had a really close working relationship with NI - decided on a company to provide them with social media data, they didn't chose NI; and when Twitter wanted to get into the social TV game, they bought Trendrr and Bluefin Labs and not NI. Why is that? Was it because the only people who could truly appreciate what NI was selling hadn't been born yet or was it because people with real money and skin in the game could see that there were other companies doing what NI does only better? This is why NI is constantly in the process of "building something never created"...because they can't even manage building what's already been created. The childish tone of the "haters leave or get over it" review really says everything you need to know about what working here is like - in addition to the "work hard, play hard" mentality, NI also likes long walks on the beach and is just as comfortable at a five-star restaurant as they are grabbing a hot dog at the game. Outside of Madison/upper management, I'd be surprised if there's anyone that's worked here longer than 3-4 years.
