Pros

Everyone is nice, helpful, and get along well with each other. BEST BHAs I've ever worked with.

Cons

Always working short staffed. They will tell you staffing is adequate, then schedule one nurse and one BHA per unit, which is nowhere near adequate or safe. They call you at work 30 minutes before shift is over to tell you that you need to stay an additional 4 hours. There is no counseling or therapy for the patients. No organized activities, so 16 mental health patients, with only one nurse, are thrown into a boring, empty environment and expected to entertain themselves, which because of their diagnoses, are unable to do so. Doctors and NPs do not identify themselves to patients, so they aren't aware these are the people giving orders for their care. Patients left to pick on each other, constantly tell on each other, and start fights.

Pros

I get to work with patients who need a lot of help. I have a family member who experienced a psych episode, and I've wanted to help ever since. We get to work with psych and medical patients, which can be hard but also great experience building. The pay and benefits are good for psych and the area. The leadership team is newer but getting better. I feel more listened to. mostly good experience with colleagues

Cons

Leadership could communicate better and keep creating improvements. i think the scheduling could be more flexible

Pros

Working with people struggling with mental health

Cons

Leadership is not available. They do not care about their employees. The DON is more interested in the maintenance man than her nurses. We are always short staffed. The bullying by the shift supervisors is off the hook.
