Pros
There’s a lot of opportunity for growth here. If you're interested in areas like admissions, management, or something new, don’t hesitate to express your interest. Leadership is open to helping you grow and often makes room for advancement. Several team members are an incredible source of knowledge (shoutout to Gregory in HR!). The pay is excellent, and the Panama schedule (four days one week, three the next — all 12-hour shifts) offers built-in overtime. Plus, there’s a $10 night weekend differential and $7 for days, which is a great bonus. The health benefits are surpisingly not that bad, quite expensive close to $700 for employee with kids but good benefits.
Cons
To help manage costs, the facility occasionally faces shortages of essential resources, such as patient snacks during night shifts and staff. The night shift also tends to see a high volume of admissions, which can add to the workload and pressure. Scheduling sometimes gives the impression of favoritism, with certain nurses regularly paired together on specific units and receiving more overtime opportunities. Meanwhile, others may be rotated across various units and teams, which can create a sense of inconsistency. The work environment is more task-oriented than team-driven, it's not particularly close-knit or “family-like,” (your personal issues will likely not be considered) but rather a place where staff come in, handle their responsibilities, and clock out. Depending on your preferences, this can be either a pro or a con. I was here for over 2 years, staff turnover is relatively high, and new hires come and go frequently. This means you may often find yourself helping onboard others and reinforcing policies and procedures.
