Pros

Great benefits package. Six-weeks of paid time-off if you can find the time to use it. Free or low-cost health care packages for single employees, though cost goes up when married or with kids. Pretty good snacks in the kitchen.

Cons

The organization preaches the importance of work-life balance and progress, but does not value employees below upper management. Diversity is more of a check-box than a value. Junior employees are often severely underpaid and overworked. Upper management is discriminatory based on race and gender. New hires in key roles and major structural changes are often kept opaque until after they've been decided upon and are unchangeable. Serious lack of transparency and accountability.

Pros

Experience as an employee is very dependent on host program/lab. Org structure supports policy, advocacy, and academic writers. No major top-down limitations which allows for depth of work across program areas (education, technology, benefits, etc).

Cons

Not great support from central comms for crisis communications.
