Pros
Solid pay transparency; guidelines for promotions and salary bands are clearly articulated. Decent office space in a very central location. Plenty of opportunities to write. Nice benefits for the most part, though their retirement match/vesting is stingy.
Cons
Every day in this job was hellish despite my best efforts to make it work. I was drawn to this role in part because of the presence of a union, but the union has not yet ratified a contract after several years—so employees are still at-will and have few protections. There is no way to review your manager without it getting back to you. If I had the chance to review mine, I would say that he was sanctimonious, smarmy, self-absorbed, and a micromanager to a degree I have never before encountered.
