Pros
+++ability to set own hours +++decent & quick paid training +++some truly wonderful clients +++decently responsible policies about COVID
Cons
--you will receive constant off-hours texts & voicemails about filling in/picking up shifts --no benefits under full-time hours --company is eliminating shifts shorter than 4 hours, which disregards your schedule needs AND clientss time & energy limits --very hardd to connect with other caregivers to discuss your working conditions, except for under the company's eye through facebook workspaces. no mentioning / connecting to Oregon care workers' union, SEIU 503 --good luck getting any kind of material support if you get sick or injured & aren't full-time --all the office staff who used to care about stuff & acted like regular people quit or got quietly transferred last year --you're going to have to be ready for a lot of corporate language and pressure to sacrifice your sleep cycle or meal hours to fill increasing emergency shifts & substitutes for caregivers who got sick. bonuses aren't offered for fill-ins until the last minute when you may have planned something else already
