Pros

Helping take care of clients who need assistance in everyday life.

Cons

Management, they take shifts with no explanation other than a "glitch in their system" when I call to find out why I had shifts taken from me and given to other employees. They do not care about when I have something come up with my health and have been rather rude many times. I've worked hard with this company for a year now and they cut my hours and won't notify me or the clients. I've became sick from some of the environments I was in while working. I have called and expressed my concerns and they fall on deaf ears.

Pros

The clients appreciate you. They really do, and they'll let you know how happy they are to have you. This job does make a real difference in people's lives day by day. A lot of independence and trust is placed in you as a CG. I appreciate that.

Cons

You never really know what you're walking into. No matter what the care plan says there will often times be issues not stated in the care plan, no matter how many questions you ask for clarification. Usually environmental challenges. Clients normally get 40 reimbursable miles a month and after those are gone (they go quick), its at the caregivers expense to run errands for the client.
