No matter how hard you work as an hourly employee you get about a 46-minute or less lunch. No nonsense. They say that we have an hour for lunch but they don't tell you that it takes 7 min to exit onto public street and the same just to reenter the building from the distant parking lot, and that's almost running speed. So for "go out for lunch" type people, the travel time for waiting on elevator, or taking 3 flights of stairs, and then a trek to the parking lot "out over there" eats away at your break/lunch time and no one says a thing about it. Not to mention, if you like to get out for lunch the best lunch places are about 10 min away from start time of getting up from your desk. A quick stop, a small chat, something you forgot on your desk, or any other minute delay will completely destroy your lunch hour. Coming back gets even more interesting: you get back, get parked, walk a distance, wait and take elevator, find your cubicle, be in your seat, computer is asleep so it needs a minute to awake, page needs to be refreshed, well now you have to enter user and password all over again, take a few seconds to load and then finally clock back in within that hour of when you clocked out. If your computer decides to be slow that day, if the program doesn't load, if you get distracted by a co-worker you run a great risk of going over. arggggghhhh!!!!
