Pros
Leads are evenly distributed to everyone; no rich get richer system. You can walk in day one and be a success. Management is very friendly and willing to help you. When we were in the office it was a nice family feel considering there were 100 people in the Columbia office between sales and operations. The future is bright at this company. For all the problems that we do have, and there are many, I genuinely feel that issues are being addressed and reasonable solutions are being implemented that have had a generally positive impact on customer and employee experience. The company has grown rapidly and that will always have growing pains, especially when you are a new company AND you are growing at a rapid pace (we acquired Ditech, and that has been an overwhelming success). You make minimum wage and commission at this job, so if you work hard you will be rewarded. Do not get caught in the fog of people complaining about processing times, the top producers could care less because they know their efforts ultimately come out the other end in closings. I have been in the industry for three years now, and this is by far the best and most fair environment I have been presented.
Cons
There are growing pains within the company with the acquisition of Ditech. Processing has been slow for nearly two years now whether the rate environment was advantageous or not. There are clear signs that upper-level management is taking strides to fix these logjams with processing and it is clearly being shown in turn times. There is not much of a focus on training, the most training you get is the day-to-day advice from your manager, not actual sales training. It is not because they are not willing to help you, but it is because it is not engrained in management to train. Many of the people at this company have previous experience so the need to train is certainly on the backburner when compared to other companies that I have worked for. The benefits are mediocre when compared with other companies that I have worked for. 2% match on 401k is certainly below the industry average, but they do contribute to your HSA account, though I am not sure if this is an industry practice or unique to NewRez. I am a tech guy at heart and some of the poor structure of our systems gives me headaches. They are working on everything but sometimes I think that our loan processing system was put together by someone who will never use the system.
