Pros
- Good work/life balance (flexible schedules, family/health accommodations, etc.) - Good benefits package (high deductible plan w/ HSA) - Child care credit benefit - Pension plan for full-time, salaried employees - Pleasant work environment and employees/peers - Great location - Many long-time (over a decade) employees in salaried positions - Opportunities for advancement (but maybe not in the same location or business unit) - Company and brand are well-respected in the industry - Company re-invests a good amount in local charities and community organizations through the corporate charitable foundation & employee participation
Cons
- Upper management is an "old boys club" - Business and markets served are very "boom or bust" - Advancement is largely placed on the individual employee to seek and make happen - Can sometimes have a "not invented here" mentality that appears resistant to change or new ideas - Corporate demands/plans get pushed down to the individual business units that do not always seem to make individual business units more efficient (only for the corporate overseers and accountants) - On-campus facilities for physical fitness do not exist - Dining options on-campus are sparse (bring your own or go off-site)
