Confusion from beginning to end! - Anonymous employee Northeastern University Employee Review

-- I was hired through an agency who told me I would be working full-time. During my interview, both people told me this was a new position that they were looking to hire someone for permanently, so it was not meant to be a temporary gig. -- On my first day, I was told that I'd be working 25 hours tops, and that my hours would likely vary due to how much work I had at the time. Most days, I was encouraged to leave early, but I wanted to learn more, so I stayed and did LinkedIn Learning, which I was told was a viable option for downtime. -- I also asked for more work, and was given the opportunity to create an interdepartmental document. However, I was given minimal information and no one returned my emails asking for help. -- I was also told I'd be working on a DEIA initiative, but was never invited to any of the meetings that took place about it. -- I was told I was being let go after three weeks, or eight days of employment. My superiors at the University said it was due to a lack of funding and that there wasn't enough work for me to justify creating a new position--but I had done nothing wrong. The staffing agency told me there was an issue with something I'd said on social media and "to scrub everything" about the University from social, which I did. I still don't know who was correct, but I do know it was a terrible experience and I missed out on a much better job because I wasted a few weeks at Northeastern.
