Pros

Considerable opportunities to take on more responsibility. If you can make your way past mid-level managers who have accomplished nothing more than not getting fired, it has the potential to be a rewarding place however; that will prove difficult. The pension is a positive as is the name. Good place to start a career and end a career.

Cons

Pay. It's nonsensical as the story is the same every year. "Money is tight this year, raises will be small or next to zero, I'll fight for you though".

Pros

Interesting work helping clients grow their business. Promoted several times (it took a while). Most roles worked with many areas at the firm so it provided a holistic view of the organization, which was great.

Cons

Some managers created a difficult work environments. Those partners are no longer at the firm...but neither am I along with some talented people who left or were part of one of the a RIFs.
