Pros

The pay, the schedule flexibility, and the employee benefits. The focus on teamwork is excellent at this hospital. We had such an amazing team on our floor. The new RN internship program was also a great experience to go through. Quality patient care.

Cons

Patient satisfaction here is HUGE. I definitely understand what it means for ratings and what not, but it sometimes gets in the way of providing care. Patients are made to feel like this a 5 star hotel instead of a hospital...Nurses end up running around trying to fetch all kinds of things to please patients when they could be providing care, charting, or helping a fellow nurse. It's a little messed up. Our unit was almost always short staffed so we were often forced to accept more patients than we needed to. The ratio was supposed to be 1:5 at most but we would sometimes go up to 1:6. It didn't happen ALL the time but when it did, it was very stressful and it felt unsafe. Also, If you do the RN internship program you have to sign a 2 year contract. If you break it immediately after the internship you have to pay over $4000! It's prorated the longer you stay during those 2 years. That's a big decision to make because you never know what will happen in life.

Pros

I have been privileged to work for Northside Hospital for the past five years, and my experience has been overwhelmingly positive. During my tenure, I have benefited from the organization's commitment to employee growth through its annual internal promotion policy, which has allowed me to advance within my current department. One of the aspects I value most is Northside's support for work-life balance and professional development. While working here, I was able to begin my Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) program from the ground up and am on track to graduate in December 2026. The flexibility and encouragement provided by the organization have played a significant role in helping me pursue my educational goals while continuing to contribute as an employee. I was a full-time employee for most of my career with the organization and recently transitioned to part-time status to accommodate the increased demands of my nursing program. The support and understanding shown by management throughout this process have reinforced my appreciation for the company's employee-centered culture. I am grateful for the opportunities, professional growth, and support I have received over the past five years.

Cons

None that I can think of right now
