Pros

30% Employee Discount Flexible Hours (Part-time)

Cons

Full-time workers (non-salaried) see their hours cut from 40 to the state minimum around the end of December. Coworkers encourage each other to apply for state unemployment insurance to subsidize their income. Job Lot does not want to foot the bill in full by prioritizing profits, and relies on state and federal agencies to help assist employees during these times. Cashiers are penalized if they do not ask for donations and or do not achieve store and corporate management expectations. In theory, cashiers should have an average donation per transaction of at least $.70/transaction to be in good standing. The donation campaigns Job Lot runs continue to change monthly (not consistent), causing confusion between cashiers and customers.
