Terrible training regimen, the moment you successfully stick someone you’ll be left to your own devices and thrown to the wolves. No sort of practice, you’ll read about and watch videos about phlebotomy and then get thrown onto the donor floor to start sticking people, you either sink or swim and 90 percent of new hires sink because they refuse to do any practical training beyond using donors as Guinea pigs. The quality department, you will be yelled at on your first day of work for things you regularly see other employees do. The managers exist in what’s called la la land, they would much rather put up pretty signs and offer bags of chips to donors than pay their overworked employees above a fast food worker’s wage. You will absolutely spend more time being taught the anatomy of the apheresis machine than you will spend learning to stick, I cannot stress this enough, they.will.not. take the time to make sure you’re comfortable and adequately trained on needle insertion or adjustments. You will be thrown to the wolves and you will end up hurting someone because of the lazy training.
