Pros

Ownership of cool problems, Okta operates at a massive scale Very collaborative engineering environment Okta tries to stay out of your way, enables you to get work done Todd McKinnon (CEO) is an amazing leader. I wish I could say the same about the rest of middle management

Cons

Management is very political. In 2 years at Okta, I've had 4 Engineering Managers. With that sort of turnover, it's tough for managers to really dig their teeth in, can feel like engineers are running the show (beyond what is typically expected of their role)

Pros

Some people are very down to earth and make coming to the office worth it. Other than that, being an employee here nowadays is an absolute joke.

Cons

Peak toxicity coming from management. Most people here suck other than the few that are real people and not corporate “sherpa” robots. The company culture has grown more and more toxic as the days go on and product demand has slowed down. I would not work here unless it was absolutely life or death. STAY AWAY PLEASE. Go work for some AI startup or some founding role at a cool company that will value your skills and not just treat you as a number. Okta is not what Okta used to be.
