Pros

- Office location downtown is a plus - Career opportunities are boundless: with an empty engineering team, everyone can be a lead! - Work/Life balance is great: all work is on hold while they subcontract a rewrite on their core app in .NET because .NET developers are cheaper. Get paid to scroll twitter!

Cons

- Experienced, tenured engineering talent started leaving in 2017 & 2018 - Management changed in 2018 & subsequently in 2019 decided to abandon existing Python codebase and rewrite the entire thing in .NET - Laid off half of the engineering team in early 2019 (engineers, scrum masters, product owners) - Remaining half has been searching almost uniformly and leaving as soon as they can find another job (rats and sinking ships, etc) It's a shame. The company had a top-notch engineering team (engineers/SMs/POs) that was wasted by lack of valuable direction and commitment from senior management. Based on ongoing conversations with employees, it has gone downhill dramatically since 2018. The place seems to be led by a pack of foolish hyenas. It's possible that exploding the engineering department & its core products and rebuilding everything from scratch will succeed. Crazier things have happened. But the way everything happened treated a lot of dedicated employees very badly and showed exactly how little they valued the people that built the company.
