Pros

The work environment…most days. My manager and coworker are awesome and the make the job at least somewhat enjoyable.

Cons

The changes in HOW to get your bonus gets two thumbs down. I signed on thinking the more money and loans I booked, the higher my bonus would be. That’s also what I was told in my interview/BM meeting. Meeting targets as a branch/district to get your bonuses every month isn’t ideal. I feel more like collections specialist. (As one employee, you can only control so much). Midway through December the bonus structure changed without prior warning. I was projected to make roughly 1.2K in bonus based on loans/ New money and DQ (delinquency) which isn’t a crazy amount but still solid. (This was with the structure I signed on for). What I ended up getting with my bonus strictly based on DQ targets and a fixed New money rewards was less than half that. Each month you get a fixed new money award based on a 3 month total from previous months and being I was only 6 months in, that total was rather low. Furthermore, only low DQ numbers that meet target can get you decent money, but the target goes lower every month until it’s practically unattainable - and that’s just base target. You still have to sell insurance and get a certain amount of secured loans as well and meet that target for yourself and the branch. For a company that claims to pride itself on customer relations and customer choice, they sure have a strange way of showing it. Aside from bonus structure, calling customers 3 times a day, right after their due date gets exhausting. Even customers who clearly pay every month on a certain day based on transaction history with no missed payments have to be called regardless. The straw that broke the camel’s back for me was after my annual review (6 months in) being top 5 in our region and number 2 in our district and. meeting every target since I was eligible, my raise was only 32 cents. After doing some research, I learned that’s the average annual raise for someone who’s been with the company 1-3 years so I’m currently interviewing for new jobs. Hope this gives some insight.

Pros

Your peers. I have a great group of co-workers though multiple have left because of HORRIBLE direct management in the AM department.

Cons

Low hourly pay. Tricky incentives. Shark like environment. Terrible and I mean TERRIBLE managers. Favoritism runs rampant at this place and goes unchecked. Lazy, incompetent department manager makes up his own rules (you MUST use your break time to go the bathroom) which goes endorsed by his superiors and HR. Reward people who live at that place and work insane OT hours because of the low pay, but crap on people working the normal amount of hours because you’re based on the “average”. Truly one of the worst management staffs I have ever seen coupled with lackadaisical training and one of the dumbest rules I’ve ever heard of…you must be at One Main for ONE ENTIRE YEAR before you can transfer out of the department or move up. Trust me when I say run as far away as you can from this place.
