Pros

OpenText offers good job stability and mature engineering practices. The work culture is relatively calm compared to high-pressure startups, which makes it easier to focus on quality and long-term thinking rather than firefighting. Compensation is steady and predictable. Work-life balance is generally healthy with reasonable expectations and limited weekend work.

Cons

Growth and promotions can feel slow and process-heavy. Career progression sometimes depends more on tenure and internal movement than rapid merit-based acceleration. Salary hikes are incremental rather than aggressive, so high performers seeking fast compensation jumps might feel constrained.

Pros

While they claim to be "pro-employee" they are very much pro-Canadian employee. As long as you are a Canadian, your job should be safe. And US based role is in jeopardy.

Cons

Laying off all Americans. I do not see relevant data on location based statistics for the last 4 rounds of layoffs. The bulk of the "trimming" has been based in US. This is cost savings. Additionally, they post US based jobs for 24 hours then pull those and post H1B notifications that they could not find equivalent US resources and need to outsource for cheaper money.
