Pros

Being independent in my day.

Cons

Feast or Famine. You can go from 60 hrs 1 week to fighting to get 6 hours the next. No compassion for the nurses in the field. Can work from sun up to sun down. On call weekends can run late into the night. Dressing changes at midnight. The entire company is built around the pharmacy and getting money for the drugs. The RN is a byproduct of that and therefore devalued. We are the work horses of the company yet the least recognized.

Pros

Compensation and annual bonus structure

Cons

Despite the fact that leadership touts patient centered care—their actions prove they only care about one thing: profits. Every metric, KPI, and action item is solely focused around maximizing profits. Severely understaffed teams and lack of support from leadership leaves teams vulnerable to mistakes. Also office politics matter way more than anything else. If your leadership likes you? You can do no wrong and everything will be swept under the rug. If they feel threatened by you? You can rest assured you will micromanaged and managed out. A once great company has morphed into a money grab. But that’s also what you expect when you have a COO who has zero operational experience.
