Pros

Pay was relatively good. Benefits were OK with the only drawback being United Healthcare as a health insurance offering.

Cons

Their tools were bad. Oracle CPQ was used for quoting and was a VERY bad tool. Cerner used far superior Salesforce. When they ported over to Oracle CPQ the 1st time (when Cerner was still on its own), they had to back out in favor of Salesforce. The 2nd time, after the Cerner acq, everything ground to a halt. It a bit improved, a very buggy tool and Oracle processes were horrible. When doing quotes, pricing always needed someone else's prior approval even when a tiny discount was given. It took sometimes days to get approval...which is not what Cerner customers were used to. (Where's my quote?!?) The approval tool was DAS where the people did not know the products for which they were doing approvals. Even $5K-$10K deals with 5% or less discounts sometimes had to be approved by the office of the CEO. Of course, as they laid everyone they could off, the financial part of the severance wasn't bad (but not great). But, they offered NO outplacement services...and I mean NONE. Health Insurance coverage ended at the end of your last day with Oracle. You were offered one extra month of subsidized healthcare if you continued through COBRA. Siemens and Panasonic offered to include RIFFed employees on the company health plan for 6 months before they had to go to COBRA. I would think the management at a company as prestigious as Oracle would be embarrassed at that since Oracle's net income for 2025 was $12.443B (an 18.88% + from 2024... with an $831B market cap with shares trading ~$290/share. I guess they couldn't spare the extra $45M on RIFFed employee Health Insurance (0.005% of their market cap) to save their reputation. Also, no raises were given for 2 or 3 years. Finally, employees in good standing (rehire-box='yes') were told 'hiring freeze' so you couldn't interview elsewhere within the company...even though people were being actively recruited and hired at that time.

Pros

Every group/division can be different in how they treat their employees, but I'd say overall there is very good atmosphere of trust and fairness. There is a strong focus on education, and they reimburse for outside classes taken (Up to 5k/year I think). Benefits are good, and I'd say quite competitive in the market. Good 401K matching (they'll contribute a max of 3% of your 6% or greater). Free drinks in the breakroom. Flexibility to work from home at times. (If you live 50+ miles away from an office you can work full-time from home...policy).

Cons

They don't try to make the workplace anything special (maybe a pool table and arcade game are cliche or gimmicky?). In the 10 years I've worked there, they've given 2 measly %1 cost of living raises (this is the same with most everyone I've spoken to, some don't get any raises). You will not get a substantial raise ever, unless you leave then get rehired on (they will not match offers, better to leave). New employees that you train will make 10 - 20K more than you several years after you hire on (not just me, they do this to all tenured employees). They will give these untrained, less experienced people higher titles (again this is done to everyone not just me). You learn pretty quickly that you're dispensable. The company has billions in cash and they don't re-invest in their employees, just in acquiring new companies and hiring new people that know nothing that you get to train.
