Pros
* Steady employment (when they're not eliminating positions) * Paid time off/Sick pay * Diversity; interact with coworkers/patients of varied cultures and backgrounds * Opportunity for advancement in the hierarchy of positions within one's department * Set hours and opportunity for O/T (again, when they're not eliminating positions) * Decent cafeteria food at Winnie Palmer hospital
Cons
* Work load & services offered with less employees to do the job * Constantly short staffed * Low employee morale * Differential cuts = no incentive to stay any longer *** Loss of knowledge base due to experienced employees & "veterans" being laid off :-( * Patient care IS suffering -and in some cases, the focus is on volume rather than safety * KRONOS time keeping - requires you to live your live down to the minute otherwise you will acquire a series of "Red Boxes" which can be used to terminate employment. The punch-in/fingerprint scanner created long lines but luckily they have upgraded to badge/swipe & fingerprint * Ridiculous campus layout & BFE parking garages that don't connect to the building, forcing you to walk in the cold and/or rain. And G-d forbid you clock in one minute late... * Dirty hospital due to cutting back on housekeeping personnel
