Pros

- Great company culture - Chance to win free food on Fridays - Great coworkers - Executive leadership is great, they actually listen to feedback from the surveys.

Cons

- Managers are not trained to be leaders and if they are, the training isn't working - Internal promotions are scarce, not advertised and given primarily to straight white men - Absolutely no diversity, see above - High client churn & always pressuring you to upsell and blame the strategist when clients leave - Favoritism and friendship runs deep here to the point that there is a clear popular group and the outcasts - Consistently moving teams around for this "new highly optimized structure" which does nothing but leaves gaps that are not filled, and switches your manager every few months - Account managers are useless and are untouchable - might as well get rid of that team since their job description changes every few months and all they seem to do is help reschedule meetings - Roll out processes so quickly without proper training, and then roll them back when they realize they screwed up - New hires are assigned the best accounts/new opportunities right away and get praised over existing employees - Forget professional development unless you're a straight white male

Thank you for taking the time to share such detailed feedback. We appreciate both the positive comments about our culture, coworkers, and leadership team, as well as the candid concerns you’ve raised. Hearing directly from teammates is an important part of how we identify where we need to improve. We want to be very clear that we are deeply committed to building a diverse, inclusive workplace where people of all backgrounds have equal opportunity to grow and succeed. Diversity and equity are priorities for us. Feedback like this helps us better understand how our efforts are being experienced and where we need to strengthen our approach. Our hiring philosophy is centered on placing the right candidates in the right roles. We aim to match people’s skills, experience, and career goals with team needs so that both teammates and clients are set up for long-term success. We are continuing to refine our hiring and onboarding processes to make sure expectations are clear and that new hires and existing team members alike are supported and recognized fairly. Training and development are also areas of active focus for us. This includes improving leadership training for managers, expanding professional development opportunities, and ensuring that new processes are rolled out with the structure, communication, and training needed for teams to succeed. We acknowledge that rapid change can be challenging, and we are constantly evolving to be more thoughtful and consistent in how changes are implemented. Advancement at OuterBox is based on performance, initiative, and impact, and we aim to promote from within whenever possible. We work hard to communicate internal opportunities so they are transparent, equitable, and accessible to everyone. We often utilize Slack to communicate open opportunities and provide a direct link to our career page to help teammates identify which positions they may be interested in applying for. Thank you again for sharing your perspective. While we know we won’t always get everything right, we are committed to listening, learning, and continuing to improve.

Pros

Some groups are very specialized and highly skilled There are some teams that care deeply about their clients and deliver really high performance Remote work Summer Fridays

Cons

The company has grown extremely fast but is not keeping standards up across the organization. It is clear that the quality of work and level of expertise varies significantly based on which team you are on. Some processes are built around certain offices or teams but don't consider the full organization. There is very limited engagement for culture events.
