Pros
Everyone at Ovia Health is passionate about what they do and it is a great place to work if you want to make a difference and be a part of the mission. The company lives what they preach and are very supportive work-life balance and the parents who work here. There have been some growing pains, but this feels normal for a start up at this stage. Management seems to be attentive to employee concerns and it is clear they have taken some of the critical feedback to heart. Bottom line: The work is challenging, interesting, and meaningful. The people are caring and driven, and everyone from CEO to newest hire is striving to make a positive impact in the world. It is still a job and this is still a business at the end of the day, so there are naturally going to be things that are frustrating or hard, but no job worth doing is easy. Not everyone gets to be paid for making a positive difference in the world, so as far as jobs go, this is a good place to be.
Cons
This is still a start up and therefore does not have the resources of a larger company. Coming from a larger company, this can be difficult to adapt to. Also, being at the growth stage means that things move quickly and sometimes that means what little resources are available need to be pulled off to whatever has the biggest need at the moment, so it can feel chaotic at times. Again, this seems normal for a start up. Some longer tenured people are still used to the small start up atmosphere so the recent growth has resulted in some tension. Additionally, this is a young company. Restructuring and departures in the last year have spooked those who are not as experienced in a corporate atmosphere where the occasional layoff and post-review season turnover are par for the course. Many of the "culture" issues seem to stem from these two things. Management seems to be aware but can sometimes take longer than needed to acknowledge the issues which can reinforce the resulting feelings of anxiety among employees.
