Pros

You’ll develop a good understanding of the markets with frequent research updates and weekly coaching on calls. There are few places in asset management where you’ll become more polished and prepared. Great benefits and a fairly standard salary for the position.

Cons

It’s in Newark which isn’t great, especially if you’re commuting from NYC. They expect 75 dials/day as opposed to a lot of other shops that require less; that’s particularly difficult if your in a less populated territory. You can burn through your entire list in two or three weeks and gatekeepers get annoyed (not a good look in a sales role). All the managers are decent enough people, there is a little bit of antiquated “boiler room” feel and it’s easy to get burnout. The Externals at PGIM are paid handsomely so there isn’t a ton of turnover. If you’re considering this role because of an opportunity to make life-changing money down the line, be prepared to make 75 dials/day for years before even having a chance to interview for an external position. Even if you have a chance to interview, you’ll be going against Externals from BlackRock or Alliance Bernstein who might have already covered the territory and have the connections.

Pros

Benefits Pay for fresh graduates Hybrid work schedule Most managers are good

Cons

Its a gamble if you are on a good team or not. Understaffing is a major issue - there will be lots of pressure and extra working hours. Used to love working here, but ever since an incompetent person was hired for my team, the workload tripled since they do not understand the job functions. Mind you, they have been here for a year and a half.
