Pros

You are your own boss - if you put in the time & effort, you can be very successful. Cold calling is not for everyone, you need to be a different type of person to work here. You can build solid relationships with customers you bring in. Philly office has a beautiful view

Cons

Working with truck drivers/trucking companies on a daily basis is not easy but its part of the job... you need thick skin. Long hours = 50 hour weeks and a very unproductive 4 hour Saturday shift each month For the amount of time and effort required to make it at PLS, the pay is very low. Management needs to establish a solid pay increase as AET's hit their benchmarks and as they continue to grow in order to make it worth being here. $38k salary doesn't cut it. No 401k match Poor TMS system - there are talks of a new system coming out but it has not been fully released. Very strict on which companies get credit lines to move freight. I've seen countless AET's get excited about finally landing an account they've been working on, only for upper management/CFO to tell them the new customer will have to Pre-pay in order to work with us. In-office management seems to take heavy pressure from upper management and it trickles down to the rest of the employees. CEO doesn't seem to understand how the company actually works... just the numbers on the income statement.

Pros

The Colleagues and relationships you make with your co-workers. Building a book of business, and fast paced environment. Unlimited Growth Potential.

Cons

The direction the company is headed in and the toxicity of an everchanging management structure. As someone who spent almost a decade with PLS; I can say fully and honestly, they do not care about you. This is a company to build experience with and move on from. If you are a $20K rep for more than 6 months, after you roll out, they will move off of you. You will be terminated with no second thought--other reps will poach your clients and potentially ruin any relationships. Furthermore, management tends to play favorites--If you show growth potential, they will feed you, but the moment you fail on one opportunity--you will be turned over. This is not the job for anyone who questions their own ability and work ethic. PLS Hires in classes - they will hire 30-40 people at a time, and in 3 months, 4 to 5 people of that class will remain. The turn over is extremely high and there is no job security. Finally, even if you are a top performer, they will not hesitate to get rid of you.
