Work Hard for little gain - Account Executive Trainee PLS Logistics Services Employee Review

Pros

Mostly everyone you work with is right out of college so the environment is fun. The ability to step away from the desk and toss a football or frisbee around for a few minutes is nice. The building itself is a nice place to work in Midtown. You can walk all over the area or go out on the balcony for a few minutes to get fresh air.

Cons

Set benchmarks that are realistic. I lasted longer then other members of my class, but a lot rests on luck. You can hammer out the cold calls everyday and get nothing from it. The managers are cool......if they like you. This will definitely give you a step up since they will give you the better customers whenever someone leaves or is terminated (this happens very very often). The fact that management expects you to find all your prospects on your own is pretty difficult. Requires a lot of extra work that you don't really get compensated for.

Pros

The Colleagues and relationships you make with your co-workers. Building a book of business, and fast paced environment. Unlimited Growth Potential.

Cons

The direction the company is headed in and the toxicity of an everchanging management structure. As someone who spent almost a decade with PLS; I can say fully and honestly, they do not care about you. This is a company to build experience with and move on from. If you are a $20K rep for more than 6 months, after you roll out, they will move off of you. You will be terminated with no second thought--other reps will poach your clients and potentially ruin any relationships. Furthermore, management tends to play favorites--If you show growth potential, they will feed you, but the moment you fail on one opportunity--you will be turned over. This is not the job for anyone who questions their own ability and work ethic. PLS Hires in classes - they will hire 30-40 people at a time, and in 3 months, 4 to 5 people of that class will remain. The turn over is extremely high and there is no job security. Finally, even if you are a top performer, they will not hesitate to get rid of you.
