Pros

Excellent products and benefits package, including health, vision, dental, 401k, ADD, Life Insurance and vacations. Strong brand recognition and spec position on paint products. Company financials are excellent and aggressive acquisitions have made PPG one of the 3 best paint manufacturers on the planet. R&D and tech support is fantastic. Due to the multi-faceted nature of the business units, you can grow and transition to many aspects of the company if desired.

Cons

Extremely high turnover of sales reps and local sales managers. I had 7 Sales Managers within a 5 year tenure. Middle management makes poor & short term decisions and hides the truth from upper management. Primary issues are poorly staffed store personnel, delivery methods and inventory controls which all equate to poor customer service. Beautiful marketing pieces but spend entirely too much money on that aspect versus the basics of stocking product and quick service and delivery. Sales team territory reassignments occur far too often and there is a weak commission plan with a "cap". The PPG/Glidden spec on new construction is available, but almost always a secondary option to either SW or Ben Moore.

Pros

- Education benefits (but access/support depends on your manager) - Flexible workplace (work hours/wfh) - Diverse workforce.

Cons

- Does not support employee promotions. Very difficult to get promoted if you are not an engineer. - Low pay, salary increases depend on manager. For the past couple years, most employees did not even receive adjustment for inflation. - Constantly loses top talent because management is unwilling to invest to keep good employees.
