Pros

Strong financially, the largest paint manufacturer in the world. Good products, especially the HDIM line. Acquisitions in last several years have added better-known brands and formulations(Glidden, Flood). Good dealer and stores network.

Cons

Lack of diversity- if you attend a sales conference, you notice that upper management is primarily middle aged men. Very few women and minorities. The company is top heavy with management, which is not particularly integrated with the field personnel; sales and profit objectives are difficult to obtain that way. There was a lot of talent lost with the Akzo integration, as many people from Akzo facilities (and from PPG facilities) did not want to move to Western Pennsylvania. There is a lack of product promotion, which could be better. The intimidation with big box retailers (HD) may backfire at some point.

Pros

- Education benefits (but access/support depends on your manager) - Flexible workplace (work hours/wfh) - Diverse workforce.

Cons

- Does not support employee promotions. Very difficult to get promoted if you are not an engineer. - Low pay, salary increases depend on manager. For the past couple years, most employees did not even receive adjustment for inflation. - Constantly loses top talent because management is unwilling to invest to keep good employees.
