Pros

Fantastic organization to work and grow in. Welcoming atmosphere and very flexible. Many continuous learning opportunities with endless interaction across various departments. I knew numerous employees who worked there until retirement. A market crash or really bad year meant they might layoff 100-150 people and a multitude would even get hired back into different divisions when conditions changed. I knew individuals who had 20+ year careers and changed roles several times - even divisions.

Cons

Operating more like a generic insurance and funds company the last 5 years. Priority one is cutting costs/people and overreaching decisions driven by trendy outside consultants. Re-hire opportunities do not exist as those roles occupied by outstanding performers and compensation are quickly filled with new less expensive hires. Someone must be channeling Jack Welch's spirit in the board room.

Pros

What I'm most grateful for is my team and the culture. Pacific Life is full of supportive, knowledgeable, encouraging, and just genuinely great people. I feel challenged, appreciated, and lucky to be a part of this culture.

Cons

In-person requirement of four days a week is not consistent. There is lots of flexibility with that, though.

The Return to Office policy is driving away one of our talented team members. Blindsided by reorgs. No polls done to determine what is best for our team.
