Pros

The people that make the engine run day in and day out are great. You get unlimited PTO. Health insurance benefits are great with low premium.

Cons

Senior leadership claims to be transparent but what they tell employees and potential employees is not true. The company is not financially stable. High turnover primarily due to layoffs. No cost of living or merit pay raises. Cannot plan anything beyond a quarter due to financial limitations and the rapidly changing solar industry. The latter is not Palmetto's fault but potential employees need to be aware.

Palmetto Response

Update: This review is over 18 months old. Palmetto is very financially stable, and profitable; Did a successful Series A back in summer of 2018. Also rec'd a $20mm line of credit in Q4 of 2018. Both of these fueled expansion into new markets. The reorganization of the sales model in Dec 2017 was necessary to be more scalable and agile, allowing for faster expansion into new markets; states across the USA. Other than the sales reorganization in December, we have very little employee turnover, in fact, we have been adding new positions to support our growth in both current and new markets; 11 states across the US now, w/ 20 more markets added in 2020. We also no longer outsource software development, it's all in-house. Also we do have merit increases. CEO recently awarded employees with more than 2 1/2 yrs longevity stock options.

Pros

Palmetto is a fast moving company that is so focused on its mission - you know you are in a place that is doing good. The team is top notch - smart, caring people. Truly not a jerk in the mix. Our work matters. In a very convoluted market, I am very confident in Palmetto's longevity.

Cons

I just wish I was able to see my coworkers more often! Remote is great, but sometimes you miss the camaraderie.

Pros

Flexibility, Unlimited PTO, Snacks when you are on site, Almost all of the staff in the Charleston office are truly nice guys, Best thing of all - people occasionally bring their dogs :).

Cons

Very unstable - seriously, In addition to former employees like myself - about half of the current staff/management are on their second round with the company. So, don't take a job with them if you want stability. Mostly very young management with an 'Everyone deserves a trophy mentality,' Pointless company-wide weekly meetings that are basically a competition for 'Who can use the most obnoxious business jargon in one statement?' Lastly, policies, guidelines, rules and management decisions change not only daily, but sometimes hourly. I'm all for necessary change, but this just makes the staff feel uneasy and makes management look weak and unorganized.
