Pros

-Remote. -Okay health insurance. -Paid maternity leave and IVF (though skimpy, it's a start!). - Coworkers are brilliantly smart and great people. -Upward/horizontal mobility within organization. -Solar Sisters philanthropic association.

Cons

-No work life balance. You are always working, the job requires 60+ hours/week just to achieve mediocre performance. Limited tools to set you up for success. -Zero job security. Your position could be eliminated any day without notice. No performance improvement plans, and the metrics used to gauge performance are highly dependent on things out of your control. -Scarce ability to take PTO. If you're in hospital expect to still work. There is rarely someone to do your job if you need to take time off. -Some departments can be political and a "good ol' boys" club. -Not everyone cares about "the mission”

Palmetto Response

Palmetto values longevity and maintaining a work-life balance for its employees. While we believe that it is critical to work hard towards key deliverables, and equally important to regain our energy for sustainability, no team member is expected to work for planned/unplanned time off. Palmetto has several favorable policies in place such as unlimited PTO with 10 business days mandatory vacation per year, flexible work hours remote-first work environment among many other benefits. More recently we have introduced our goal setting process for individuals to understand how their work is directly measured to our company objectives and in service of our mission. We are excited about our future and truly value all of our current and former employees' feedback on how we can further improve. We wish you the best.

Pros

Palmetto is a fast moving company that is so focused on its mission - you know you are in a place that is doing good. The team is top notch - smart, caring people. Truly not a jerk in the mix. Our work matters. In a very convoluted market, I am very confident in Palmetto's longevity.

Cons

I just wish I was able to see my coworkers more often! Remote is great, but sometimes you miss the camaraderie.

Pros

Flexibility, Unlimited PTO, Snacks when you are on site, Almost all of the staff in the Charleston office are truly nice guys, Best thing of all - people occasionally bring their dogs :).

Cons

Very unstable - seriously, In addition to former employees like myself - about half of the current staff/management are on their second round with the company. So, don't take a job with them if you want stability. Mostly very young management with an 'Everyone deserves a trophy mentality,' Pointless company-wide weekly meetings that are basically a competition for 'Who can use the most obnoxious business jargon in one statement?' Lastly, policies, guidelines, rules and management decisions change not only daily, but sometimes hourly. I'm all for necessary change, but this just makes the staff feel uneasy and makes management look weak and unorganized.
