Pros

Parsley Health is full of good people and has a good overall culture. It never felt toxic or bad. While work life balance isn't always the best, Parsley Health genuinely cares, and actively try to prevent it,

Cons

I have worked at all sorts of start-ups in various stages. I have never seen a company that is so erratic and full of chaos. What makes it so hard is the company does so many things right. The employee turnover is just so high that there is no institutional knowledge, so priorities and initiatives seem to shift and change as people come in and out of the company. Engineering is like a start-up inside a healthcare company. This sounds great, but from an engineer's point of view, you end up with all the cons of a typical start-up but none of the pros. Everything is top-down, with no iteration, no experimentation, no autonomy, average pay, no stability, no motivation, and undersized resources. Employee turnover. It speaks for itself, and has all sorts of ripple effects. Sure some of the turnover is our current work reality, but it was bad before the great resignation. Maybe the turnover is within normal standards, but it inside the company it doesn't feel like.

Thanks for sharing your insights. We’re thrilled to hear that you appreciate the culture we’ve built. Our employees are instrumental in creating our culture and our impact to member outcomes. We understand that employee turnover has a ripple effect on employees and day-to-day work, and we are actively working to lessen turnover across the organization. The recent executive hires, specifically me and the CTO, are rolling out programs that help empower employees so they can make an even greater impact to the company.

Pros

While salary is low for the industry, that’s only by a little.

Cons

This place is chaotic at best, and frequently toxic. Robin Berzin cares deeply about her product to the point where she will emotionally abuse those who work directly with her on a cares deeply about her product to the point where she will emotionally abuse those who work directly with her on a regular basis, which could even include individual contributors if she wants to insert herself. Deadlines and priorities are chosen based on her anxiety and desire to make something go live rather than what makes sense. There is constant, relentless chaos and overwork, very little work life balance and no sense of safety about your job. *Important - This is also an unsafe environment for queer people. Time and time again, unsafe to speak up.
