Pros

Great salary, Great employee's, Great benefits, Great Employee parties. Wonderful training, PayPal is breaking ground as to how to ensure a good employee turn around from training to production. !:1's and Team Huddles, weekly, are such a benefit to the employee's, and an open door policy with all management staff is someone tot talk about.

Cons

I was fired for an incident that happened outside of work, that involved a work product.. The PayPal Debit card. Long story short, My brother was killed by the phoenix police department. I had a hard time dealing with this, and I was meet with 3 days of paid time off, if I had the paid time off to match the time off. Then began the struggle. I had to go through FMLA and battle with the 3rd party disability leave company that eBay uses to handle their disability claims. I won that battle, and when I came back, "ready" as much as their disability company would allow me to be(read as intensive counseling, and soul searching.) I cam back, and resumed employment. Shortly after(maybe a week or two), I went out with a friend who wanted to talk about my loss. I ended up spending entirely too much(220$ on my bar tab exclusively). When I went to use my PayPal Debit card(which was recommended by my employer as a way to get familiar with company products), It was declined. I did the same thing that any other red blooded american would do, and I called the number on the back of my card. Now I was frustrated, but in relatively good spirits, all thins considered. After the bad representative I spoke with basically stated, there is nothing she will do to help me, I said, I cant believe you would not try to help me, because I help customers like this every day. That's when the call took a turn for the worse, instead of trying to resolve my problem, the rep I spoke with went about capturing as much non-payment related info as they could about my employement there, and filed a claim with their manager. Two weeks later, I was terminated saying that, "My candor outside of work was not congruent with the image PayPal wanted to present to its clients" For the record, I have no ill will towards the rep that resulted in my inproper termination. I say Improper because the Department of Economic Security agreed, and payed me unemployement.

Pros

PayPal has a lot of potential. It has two very strong brands in PayPal and Venmo with significant awareness and user bases that other companies envy. There are pockets of teams that are really pushing the envelop to reimagine what PayPal and Venmo could be—especially the Venmo team—and to move with speed given the company must stay focused and not waste time with Apple Pay, Shop Pay, and so many other competitors nipping at PayPal's heels and aggressively taking market share.

Cons

While some teams are pushing to self-disrupt and are moving fast, too many teams—and I'd argue the majority of the company–are living off of PayPal's laurels from the late 2010s through the pandemic. The culture and mindset have to change for the company to remain competitive. Otherwise, they are the Titanic and they're sinking slowly. The former CEO who only last 2 years tried diversifying the company's revenue, planning for the future. But the board and its former chairman (now new CEO) felt he wasn't moving fast enough to stabilize and marketshare. Instead, the board hired the former chairman who made computers and printers at HP—another sinking ship—to lead the oldest fintech company. The loss of confidence in the leadership team and the strategy are only accelerating.
