Pros

I have met some of the best people at Paychex and my coworkers have become my best friends. The training program they provide is excellent and it is a great first job for anyone looking to get into sales/ the business world. It is great experience. Unlimited PTO, paid holidays.

Cons

Quotas are astronomically high considering the opportunity you are given. Probably 5 people out of a 100 person sales floor hit their Year to Date quota, with even less consistently hitting their monthly numbers. A good rule of thumb is typically 50% of the floor hitting quota. This does not even come close. They will feed their top performing reps even if the only reason they perform well is because they don’t lift a finger for the sales they do make. People who consistently work hard and hit their daily KPI’s and activity goals are not rewarded in a fair way- it will always be someone who has sold more. From someone doing well in the role- there is a lot on the back end that is not fair nor just, and they will try to make you feel important so that you keep your mouth shut. If you want to make a move internally, get ready for them to shut that down too. 0 opportunities for career advancement unless you stay in your role for 5 years minimum with great success.

Pros

Paychex is a great company to work for. I’ve held multiple roles over 20+ years. There are always ups and downs, but for every position, manager, decision I disagree with, there are ten others that are outstanding.

Cons

It’s a large company with many opportunities to grow, but smaller companies may offer higher compensation.

Pros

Remote work is a plus. Collaboration from peers is more plus than minus. Documentation of business technology was great for the most part.

Cons

Worse holiday observance company I ever worked for. Pay is low for what is asked. Work/life balance was good until 2025. Mid-level leadership and above is not ideal. I had little guidance when I started so, especially from manager so had to figure things out with help of peers.
