Pros

Paychex is a great company, a strong company with great products and services. It has a great reputation and happy customers. Unfortunately it all comes down to the particular office you work in and your direct manager. If you have the opportunity to work in a location/office where reps enjoy partnering and referring and you have a decent manager you will be very happy. If your office is dead energy with a bad manager than you will be unhappy. You might notice that a great or decent manager makes for a great office to work in.

Cons

Unfortunately it all comes down to the particular office you work in and your direct manager. If you have a bad manager, you are stuck. Upper management and HR will accept your complaints, but nothing will be done. After I was there for a while a bad manager came in and his entire team quit within a year. He had 100% turnover in one year. All of the reps complained to upper management but nothing changed. You will see mixed reviews - Paychex Great and Paychex Horrible - it's all about the District Manager and Zone Manager . Please note that there are different divisions: CORE payroll, MMS Payroll, HR Premier and 401K/FSA - each divisions has it's own District Manager that you report to. Best advice is to listen to your instincts when you interview. See if it feels like a bad office or manager - or if it's good. Keep in mind management staff can change. A previously bad office can become a great office when there is different management.

Pros

People and the overall environment is a positive one. If you do your part, definite long term career potential. It’s not easy- but stable, growing. Worth serious consideration for early career looking for sales experience with a great training program. Also good for mid-career consideration if base salary isn’t the primary reason you are in sales.

Cons

Very fast pace that doesn’t suit everyone. If you are looking for easy or just a job to “hang out”, this probably isn’t the right spot for you.

Pros

Remote work is a plus. Collaboration from peers is more plus than minus. Documentation of business technology was great for the most part.

Cons

Worse holiday observance company I ever worked for. Pay is low for what is asked. Work/life balance was good until 2025. Mid-level leadership and above is not ideal. I had little guidance when I started so, especially from manager so had to figure things out with help of peers.
