Pros
Family type work environment Great associate discount Very hands-on
Cons
Associates are responsible for opening, closing, taking deposits to the bank, putting out shipment and running all aspects the store ALONE 75% of the time they are there but they still make minimum wage. Raises are very small. ( My last was equal to an extra gallon of milk a week) Too much number tracking. Too many separate coupon methods. Customers get confused. You're expected to be able to stay or come in whenever needed. ( I get called almost every off day) You start at minimum wage even with retail experience. Scolding and punishment for taking returns even though the company encourages customers to return for any reason. Little room for growth in the company. Company wants you to approach customers and suggest items as if you're commissioned . Small stores are not allowed full time employees but need to have them. Your name is printed for the entire district of stores to see if you're not meeting goals. You are expected to have a certain percent of the people who come in, buy something. You have upt and dpt goals that vary depending on what your store made last year on that day. The SMILES leader and customer journey make you crazy. They want you to make people try on shoes and measure kids' feet before parents can say no.
